WHAT WE DO

Members of the tenants association work together to help improve living conditions at 3003 Van Ness. For example, we:

  • Fight for better security and a safer building.

  • Stand up for residents when management doesn’t respond to their legitimate requests.

  • Share information with members to help them understand their rights.

  • Organize working groups so tenants can work on issues that interest them.

  • Help residents communicate with each other via our Google Group.

  • Share important news about what is happening in the building via our Google Group, news feed and Twitter.

  • Help defend tenants against illegal rent increases.

  • Contact city inspectors when plaster crumbles from garage ceilings or the elevators break down.

  • Work with City Council members on important housing issues, including passing laws.

  • Work with the DC Metropolitan Police Department to make the building safer.

  • Work with the Office of the Tenant Advocate and other city agencies.

  • File tenant petitions in administrative court or take other legal action when necessary.

  • Work to help make housing more affordable for all DC residents by fighting the “rent concession” scam and other abuses.
